The eight snapshots

Two cleans, three drives, one big one, two solos.

Snapshots are the eight variations living inside this one preset. You switch between them with your feet. They run in gain order in four groups: two cleans, three drives, the big ambient sound, then the two boosted solos.

Snapshots 7 and 8 sit about 4 dB above the rest. That is a lead boost on purpose, and the README tells you how to level it out if you would rather it did not.

Before you buy

Check that it fits your rig.

  • Works with: Helix Floor, Helix LT, Helix Rack, Helix Native
  • Firmware 3.11 or newer. If you are older than that, update before buying.
  • Does not work with: HX Stomp, HX Stomp XL, HX Effects, POD Go, or Helix Stadium. Those units cannot run this many blocks, and Stadium uses a different format.
  • Built for going direct to front of house, an FRFR cab, studio monitors, or headphones.
  • Voiced on an HSS guitar and checked with both single coils and humbuckers.
  • Set Global EQ to off. The README walks you through the three global settings that matter.

Questions

The things people ask.

Do I need to buy impulse responses?

No. This is the whole point. It runs on a stock Line 6 cab, so there is no IR to purchase, no file to load into a numbered slot, and no way to get the dreaded "IR could not be found" error. Import one file and play.

Will it sound exactly like the demo?

Close, not identical. Your guitar, pickups, and monitoring are not the ones it was built on. The demo is raw Helix output with nothing added, so what you hear is what the preset actually does, but expect to nudge it slightly for your rig. That is true of every preset ever sold.

What do I actually get?

A zip containing the preset file, a setup guide covering install and the global settings that matter, and the license.

Can I use it on my recordings?

Yes. Records, releases, live shows, streams, videos, commercial or not. No extra fee and no credit required. You just cannot resell or share the file itself.

It will not import. What now?

It is almost always firmware. Update both your Helix and HX Edit, then try again. If that does not fix it, get in touch and it will get sorted out.
